Katherine E. Standefer
Katherine E. Standefer is an author and shamanic practitioner. On her Substack—The Wild and Holy Moment—she writes about what she calls "emergent shamanism," telling her story of surviving multiple death initiations and being courted by shamanic practice, as a person without clear lineage, in a modern world. Her debut memoir LIGHTNING FLOWERS was a Finalist for the Kirkus Prize and a New York Times Editor's Pick. Her writing appeared in The Best American Essays 2016. She studied at the Nordic School of Shamanism and University of Arizona MFA. She lives in a cabin in Wyoming.
